- Service providers who register to be included on any of the ‘Find a professional service abroad’ services

Using ‘Find a professional service abroad'
The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) provides lists of service providers for information only, to assist British nationals who may need support overseas. These lists are not exhaustive and are subject to change at any time.
None of the service providers are endorsed or recommended by the FCDO and the FCDO does not assume any responsibility, including legal responsibility or liability, to any person who uses or relies upon these service providers or this information.
You should research whether a service provider will be suitable for you, considering your specific circumstances.
The FCDO does not accept any liability for any loss or damage suffered by a person, legal person or company, as a result of using these service providers or this information.
Complaints about any organisations on the list should be directed to the nearest consulate, embassy or high commission.
Applying to be added to ‘Find a professional service abroad’
Inclusion on any of the 'Find a professional service abroad' services is not an endorsement by the FCDO and you are not affiliated to the FCDO in any way.
FCDO reserves the right to remove your service from the list at any time.
You must not use the FCDO logo or branding on your website or any printed material. You must not state or imply that you or your service have been endorsed by the FCDO.
Find a lawyer abroad
To be considered for the ‘Find a lawyer abroad’ service you must:
- be currently qualified to practise law or meet the national criteria for providing legal services to the public, for example mandatory affiliation
- have an acceptable level of written and spoken English
- not be disbarred from practising law
- be reliable and willing to help on a regular basis
- be able to respond within a reasonable timeframe to client requests
- be willing to update or re-confirm your details on an annual basis on request
Find a funeral director abroad
To be considered for the ‘Find a funeral director abroad’ service you must be:
- currently qualified to provide funeral services, or are currently registered with the local authorities to provide funeral services (if applicable in your country)
- reliable and willing to help on a regular basis
- able to respond within a reasonable timeframe to client requests
- willing to update or re-confirm your details on an annual basis on request
Find a translator or interpreter abroad
To be considered for the ‘Find a translator or interpreter abroad’ service you must be:
- currently qualified to provide translation or interpretation services
- reliable and willing to help on a regular basis
- able to respond within a reasonable timeframe to client requests
- willing to update or re-confirm your details on an annual basis on request
FCDO will consider removing you from the list should it find that you
- are subject to any adverse finding or action in respect of your professional services
- are not currently qualified to operate the service
- are unreliable, or fail to respond within a reasonable timeframe to client requests
- are unwilling to help on a regular basis
- charge inconsistent fees
- are found to be displaying any FCDO logo or branding on your website, or seek to imply that you or your company have been endorsed by the FCDO
General
These terms and conditions affect your legal rights and responsibilities. They govern your use of, and relationship with, the service. They don’t apply to other services provided by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, or to any other government department or service.
You agree to use this site only for lawful purposes, and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of, or restrict or inhibit the use and enjoyment of, this site by any third party.
We may occasionally update these terms and conditions. This might happen if there’s a change in the law or to the way this service works. Check these terms and conditions regularly, as continued use of the service after a change has been made is your acceptance of the change. If you don't agree to the terms and conditions and privacy policy, you should not use this service.
Applicable law
Your use of this service and any dispute arising from its use will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, including but not limited to the:
- Computer Misuse Act 1990
- Data Protection Act
- Mental Capacity Act 2005
How to use this service responsibly

It’s your responsibility to be aware of these risks and to avoid using any computer which may leave your personal information accessible to others. You are responsible if you choose to leave a computer unprotected while in the process of using the service.

We don’t accept liability for loss or damage incurred by users of this service, whether direct, indirect or consequential, whether caused by tort, breach of contract or otherwise. This condition shall not prevent claims for loss of or damage to your tangible property or any other claims for direct financial loss that are not excluded by any of the categories set out above.
This does not affect our liability for death or personal injury arising from our negligence, nor our liability for fraudulent misrepresentation or misrepresentation as to a fundamental matter, nor any other liability which cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
